Our program is meant to aid in developing the mentee’s capacity. This isn’t just handing them the answers; you are their consultant, counselor, and cheerleader. While the mentor provides a lot of support to their mentee, you’ll find it is a reciprocal relationship, and you may learn as much from your mentee as they learn from you.

Check out some expert tips from our friends at Dweebs Global.

What is your role?

  • Build and maintain trust

  • Keep things confidential

  • Be prompt & responsive, even if it is to tell your mentee you need more time for something

  • Connect your mentee with others in your network

  • Give advice, but don’t do the work for them

Be authentic & candid - you’ll go a lot further if you start with an honest foundation!

What isn’t your role?

  • Don’t take action on their behalf

  • Work with them to advocate for themselves

  • Don’t discuss your conversations with anyone

  • Don’t preach, discuss religion, politics, etc.

We are prepared for this! While not required, please utilize our suggested activities if you need any help getting started or for some creative bonding exercises that you can work on together.

We have a mentor peer group for support and networking!

You can always contact the Program Director, Amanda Cramer, at Amanda@leadforfarmedanimals.com for additional support.
